In addition, CNOOC Uganda Limited is equipping eleven primary schools namely Kabaale Public School, Kigaaga Primary School, Kaseeta Primary School, St Andrews Nyairongo Primary School, Kibaale Modern Primary School/Kyarushesha Nursery & Primary School, St. Mary’s Wairagaza Primary School, St. Augustine Primary School/Nsozi Primary School, Tontema Primary School, Butoole Primary School, St. Karoli Lwanga/Rwemisanga Primary School, and Buhuuka Primary School, with 400 desks (for upper and lower primary) and 880 textbooks for pupils from Primary One to Primary Seven.

Each school will receive an average of 40 desks and 80 textbooks.

LIU Xiangdong, President CNOOC Uganda Limited while speaking about the initiative said, “CNOOC Uganda Limited is committed to contributing towards improved healthcare and education in our host communities. We believe that healthy and educated communities are forming the foundation for sustainable development and shared prosperity.

Beyond this current handover, CNOOC Uganda Limited is continuously implementing other impactful CSR initiatives, including scholarships for 11 outstanding students to pursue degree programs in China, medical camps offering free treatment and health education that attract over 700 people annually, tree planting campaigns to promote environmental conservation, human rights sensitization programs, and skills development projects such as heavy equipment operation training aimed at enhancing employability.

The ongoing programs are strengthening the company’s long-term relationship with communities and are contributing to sustainable socio-economic growth in the Albertine Region.

Aligned with its green development strategy, CNOOC Uganda Limited is also advancing innovative livelihood projects that focus on rice and millet growing, piggery, and tree planting initiatives.

These projects are strengthening food security, improving household incomes, and promoting environmental conservation through sustainable land use and reforestation efforts.

By integrating agriculture, livestock, and environmental management, the initiatives are designed to deliver long-term socio-economic benefits while supporting climate resilience in host communities.

The event was officiated by Peter Banura, the LCV Chairperson of Kikuube District who thanked CNOOC for the efforts to provide a better livelihood for the community in which they operate by supporting health, education hands on skills development programs among other initiatives.

Xiangdong added that the donation  is aimed at improving education and healthcare in the communities.

“This initiative aligns with the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) goal of “small yet beautiful livelihood projects” and the Health Partnership Action to “strengthen Africa’s public health capacity.” In this way, we are meeting immediate needs while also supporting long-term shared development,” he noted.
