Museveni Meets Egyptian Foreign Minister to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni yesterday held a meeting with an Egyptian delegation led by the country’s Foreign Minister, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, at State House Entebbe.

During the engagement, Dr. Abdelatty conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from Egyptian President H.E. Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. He also proposed the establishment of a joint Egypt-Uganda business council to promote investment in key sectors such as construction, energy, and pharmaceuticals.

Highlighting Egypt’s commitment to regional development, Dr. Abdelatty pointed to a new financing mechanism set up by his government to support joint projects in southern Nile Basin countries.

“It is a great honour and pleasure to be here to convey the best wishes from your brother, President Abdel Fattah, who is eager to engage in discussions with you and facilitate a business forum where our business communities can explore investment opportunities for mutual benefit,” he said.

He further commended President Museveni for his visionary leadership and steadfast commitment to Pan-Africanism and South-South cooperation.

The talks also focused on deepening economic collaboration between the two nations, with emphasis on attracting more investment in sectors including energy, security, and digital transformation.
