Popular music producer, David Ebangit alias Washington has for the first time come out to give his version of what transpired on the fateful night that singer Mowzey Radio was assaulted resulting into his death.

Washington was accompanying Radio at De Bar, a hang out in Entebbe last week when the Goodlyfe singer was badly beaten to unconsciousness. The two had spent the day together having visited a house that Radio was constructing somewhere in Entebbe first.

In his account while appearing on NBS TV on Monday morning, Washington said that Radio was “lifted and thrown down” by a man identified as Troy. He said that Radio had not provoked him in any way.

According to Washington, the deceased had been invited to De Bar for a meet by a friend of his called, Pamela. When they arrived at the bar at around 5pm, Pamela had a group of friends.

However, later, Mowzey poured whisky on the bar manager for a reason Washington could not reveal as he had been resting in his car outside.

“Mowzey poured whisky on the bar manager as they were all laughing, I only noticed the manager was not amused with this. I asked Mowzey, what have you done? He said they know what they have done,” Washington told NBS TV in an interview on Monday morning.

Washington says it was at this point that the angered bar manager charged at Radio only to be separated before they could fight. He then talked Pamela and Radio into leaving the bar but as they rushed towards the car, a staffer called Troy ran towards them saying Radio had disrespected the manager.

“On the way out, towards the door of the club, this tall guy, Troy, came shouting ‘you have disrespected the owner of the bar’,” Washington said.

“He lifted Radio up and threw him down, heard him hit his head down. I heard his head crack. My instincts was to first pick up Mowzey. His eyes had shutdown,” he added.

Washington faults the medics at Emmanuel Hospital on Entebbe where he rushed the unconscious Radio, for taking long to attend to him.

“We drove Mowzey to Emmanuel Hospital and there was a bit of delay. The doctors took ages to attend to him, they put him on drips and instead said he had a lot of alcohol in his system”.

“I kept on telling them I heard his head crack and that they should check his head. But they said they could not handle the case, and instead referred me to Nsambya. We than requested for an ambulance to Nsambya. From Nsambya Hospital, we were referred to Case hospital because they told us that the ICU was full”.

Contrary to what many have been speculating, alleging that the ‘intoxicated’ Mowzey Radio had provoked the brawl given his previous incidents, Washington revealed that “Mowzey Radio didn’t fight at all”.

He however faulted Pamela for not doing enough to protect Radio.

“I asked Pamela to get Mowzey out of the bar four times. She didn’t do enough to protect Mowzey because she is the one who invited us,” Washington said.

His revelations come at the backdrop of conspiracies questioning why he has been quiet on the cause of Radio’s death yet he witnessed the brutal assault in Entebbe. While others would have expected Washington to give the account of the events during the funeral, he didn’t show face. But he downplayed these claims.

However, some people have lashed out at the producer raising questions on his actions on the fateful night, that appear to have been insufficient. Some wondered why it took him two weeks to explain what happened, why he couldn’t get Radio out of the bar rather than asking Pamela to do it, and why he never intervened to rescue the singer while he was being assaulted.
