Uganda’s hospitality sector is embracing a digital revolution, with the Uganda Hotel Owners Association (UHOA) championing Reserveport by Pesapal as a key driver of transformation in the industry.

In an era where travellers demand seamless digital experiences, from easy online bookings to instant mobile payments, Reserveport is emerging as the solution tailor-made for Uganda’s diverse hotel landscape.

UHOA CEO Jean Byamugisha described the platform as a “game-changer” for Ugandan hotels, helping them move away from manual processes and become more competitive in a rapidly digitising global travel market.

“Today’s guest expects digital-first service — real-time communication, cashless payments, and smooth online bookings,” said Byamugisha. “Reserveport is helping our hotels deliver exactly that, without needing massive IT investments.”

Built for African Hospitality

Unlike many imported systems that struggle to serve local realities, Reserveport is designed specifically for African markets. It integrates direct bookings via hotel websites and social media, reducing dependency on Online Travel Agencies (OTAs) and increasing hotel profitability.

The platform also supports mobile and card payments via MTN MoMo, Airtel Money, Visa, and Mastercard, giving guests convenience and hotels a faster, more secure cash flow system.

“Whether it’s a lodge in Bwindi or a business hotel in Kampala, this platform levels the playing field,” noted Byamugisha.

Additional features include a centralised dashboard for managing bookings, payments, and guest interactions, multi-currency support for international visitors, and an offline mode that ensures continued functionality in areas with poor internet connectivity.

Empowering the Entire Sector

UHOA, which represents over 700 hotels across Uganda, has long advocated for technologies that benefit the entire hospitality ecosystem, not just large chains. Reserveport is helping small and mid-sized hotels improve visibility and efficiency, offering them a competitive edge without the cost barriers traditionally associated with high-end digital tools.

“This isn’t just about technology — it’s about inclusion and long-term sustainability,” emphasised Byamugisha. “We need tools that understand our context and help our sector grow together.”

Digital Readiness for Tourism Growth

With Uganda preparing to host major events such as CHAN 2025 and AFCON 2027, and as regional tourism partnerships expand, the need for digitally ready hotels is more urgent than ever. Reserveport, according to UHOA, is a timely response to that need.

“Digital infrastructure is no longer optional — it’s foundational. Platforms like Reserveport are key to positioning Uganda as a top African destination,” said Byamugisha.

Byamugisha called on hotel owners, general managers, and tourism stakeholders to explore Reserveport and embrace the future of smart, guest-centric hospitality. “Ugandan hotels have the charm, talent, and potential to compete globally. Now, they have the tools. Let’s power a new era of hospitality — for our guests, for our sector, and for our country.”
