President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Thursday met with Mr Malik Agar, Deputy Chairman of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council, who visited him at State House Entebbe.

Mr Agar led Sudan’s delegation to the 12th high-level Regional Oversight Mechanism (ROM) summit of the Peace, Security and Cooperation (PSC) Framework for the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Great Lakes Region.

During their discussions, the two leaders focused on the current situation in Sudan. President Museveni stressed the importance of dialogue to end the ongoing conflict, highlighting that addressing the root causes is crucial for lasting peace.

Separately, at the ROM summit held at State House Entebbe, President Museveni, who recently took over as chairman of the peace mechanism, underscored the collective responsibility of all stakeholders in the Great Lakes peace processes, advocating for minimal foreign interference.

Since late 2023, President Museveni has actively engaged with delegations from the conflicting parties, promoting dialogue and ceasefire efforts.
