Kisenyi FC carved their place in Ugandan youth football history with a thrilling 8–4 victory over Crown Lubiri, clinching the inaugural Frenzy Futsal U17 Juniors League title at the electrifying Old Kampala Arena.
In a final brimming with goals, drama, and rising stars, Kisenyi’s Justus Ssempijja stole the spotlight. After a cagey start, Ssempijja broke the deadlock with a dazzling solo effort before Crown’s Abdul Shakur Hamud responded with a long-range stunner to level the score.
Kisenyi quickly reclaimed the lead, courtesy of a brilliant assist from Muhammad Abdulkadir that allowed Ssempijja to double his tally. Crown fought back, with Muhammad Mahmood’s composed finish ensuring the teams went into halftime deadlocked at 2–2.
But the second half was a Kisenyi masterclass. Ssempijja completed his hat-trick within minutes of the restart, followed by a strike from “Starboy” Abdi to make it 4–2. Though Crown pulled one back through Sharif Muhammad, Waleed Bashir restored the two-goal cushion almost instantly.
Momentum firmly on their side, Kisenyi capitalised when Mahmood was sent off for a second yellow card after a clumsy tackle. Ssempijja’s deflected shot gave him his fourth of the night and Kisenyi their sixth goal. Despite a quick response from Crown’s Muhammad Hassan, Ssempijja turned provider again as Abdi tapped in to make it 7–4.
A sixth team foul by Crown handed Kisenyi a penalty, which Waleed coolly converted. Tempers flared in the final moments, leading to three red cards—Sharif and Hamud for Crown, and Waleed for Kisenyi—but the outcome was already sealed.
With flair, firepower, and composure beyond their years, Kisenyi FC emerged as deserved champions, setting a high bar for youth futsal in Uganda. Their landmark triumph in the debut edition of the Frenzy Futsal U17 Juniors League is not just a victory—it’s a statement of a bright future ahead.
