Ecobank Uganda has partnered with Carrefour Uganda to transform the retail shopping experience by providing seamless and secure payment options at all Carrefour stores across the country.
The partnership features the rollout of Ecobank’s Smart Point-of-Sale (POS) terminals, enabling customers to pay conveniently using contactless debit, prepaid, and credit cards, as well as mobile money platforms like MTN MoMo and Airtel Money.
The terminals also support major global networks including Visa, MasterCard, and Interswitch, along with Apple and Samsung Pay for added ease.
As part of this exciting collaboration, Ecobank and Carrefour have launched a “Swipe and Win” Easter campaign aimed at rewarding customers who make purchases using Ecobank POS terminals during the Easter season.
Shoppers stand a chance to win a variety of exciting prizes by simply swiping their cards or making digital payments at any of the following Carrefour locations Oasis Mall, Lugogo Mall, Metroplex Mall, Victoria Mall, and Acacia Mall.
Among the prizes to be won, five lucky customers each week will be selected to participate in a trolley dash worth UGX 500,000, where they get the chance to grab as many items as possible within a limited time.
In total, 20 winners will enjoy this exhilarating experience, amounting to UGX 10,000,000 in rewards. Winners will be celebrated during Carrefour’s exciting “Magic Hour” activations each week bringing joy and energy to the shopping floors.
This initiative not only promotes cashless transactions but also adds extra joy to the Easter shopping experience.
Grace Muliisa, Managing Director of Ecobank Uganda, emphasized the bank’s dedication to digital innovation.
“We’re thrilled to launch the ‘Swipe and Win’ Easter campaign in partnership with Carrefour as we continue to drive digital payment adoption. This collaboration reflects our ongoing commitment to delivering secure, convenient, and rewarding experiences for our customers.”
Emmanuel Kikoni, Head of Cash Management at Ecobank, added that the POS terminals guarantee instant processing and generate receipts for both customers and the store streamlining payment verification and reconciliation.
Christophe Orcet, Regional Director for East Africa at Carrefour, commented on the collaboration.
