Vivo Energy Partners with Educational Institutions to Promote Sustainable Cooking with Shell Gas

Vivo Energy Uganda, the marketer and distributor of Shell fuels and lubricants, has launched a strategic partnership with educational institutions across the country to promote sustainable cooking solutions using Shell Gas.

This initiative aligns with the Ministry of Energy and Minerals’ directive to phase out traditional fuels like firewood and charcoal, which contribute to deforestation and environmental degradation.

The partnership aims to reduce carbon emissions, promote cleaner cooking methods, and safeguard public health.

By switching to Shell Gas, schools can minimize health risks associated with prolonged exposure to smoke from firewood and charcoal, create a safer and healthier environment for students and staff, Reduce deforestation and lower their carbon footprint and enhance operational efficiency with quicker and more efficient cooking

Vivo Energy Uganda has introduced a tailored package for educational institutions, including, High-capacity Shell Gas tank, Complete installation system with piping and meters, Gas cylinders, burners, cookers, and critical safety equipment and Free training for school support staff on safe Shell Gas handling and use.

King’s College Budo has become the first institution in Uganda to fully integrate Shell Gas for its cooking needs, demonstrating its commitment to sustainability, safety, and setting a positive precedent for other educational institutions.

Alvin Bamutire, Shell Gas Manager at Vivo Energy Uganda, highlighted the initiative’s broader impact, saying, “Our Shell Gas solutions provide schools with a reliable, cost-effective, and safer alternative to traditional fuels.”

Joanita Menya Mukasa, Managing Director of Vivo Energy Uganda, emphasized the importance of this partnership, stating, “We are proud to collaborate with schools across Uganda to introduce safer and more sustainable cooking solutions.”

This partnership is part of Vivo Energy Uganda’s broader vision to drive positive environmental and social impact across Uganda.
