The Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Cooperatives is convening the Trade Review Conference 2025 from March 26-27, 2025, at Speke Resort Munyonyo.
Themed “Towards Trade Competitiveness for Achieving the 10-Fold Growth Strategy,” the conference brings together key stakeholders from government, private sector, civil society, academia, and development partners to assess Uganda’s trade landscape and explore strategies to enhance economic growth.
The Strategy is aimed at propelling Uganda’s GDP from the current USD 53 billion to USD 500 billion by 2040.
This high-level event serves as a platform to review trade policies, identify challenges, and unlock new opportunities to boost Uganda’s trade performance.
Discussions will focus on standards and quality infrastructure, Market Access Opportunities, Reducing import dependance, Trade Financing, and Digital technologies for trade, and SMEs Growth.
Speaking about the conference, Mwebesa Francis, Minister of Trade Industry and Cooperatives emphasized its importance in shaping Uganda’s trade future.
“This conference is an opportunity for us to listen to all stakeholders to obtain their views on how to position Uganda and build trade competitiveness that will contribute to the ambitious 10-Fold Growth Strategy for economic transformation,” he said.
He added, “The Government of Uganda is committed to achieve this strategy in line with the National Development Plans and Vision 2040.”
Anna Nambooze – the Country Director TMA stated that, the Trade Review Conference is aligned with TMA’s goal of growing prosperity through increased trade.
“We are glad to facilitate the Conference which will provide a platform for constructive dialogue between the private sector and government.We look forward to the Conference fostering strategy and mutually agreed actions aimed at creating a dynamic and inclusive trade environment,” she said.
