The President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, H.E. Taye Atske Selassie, has arrived in Uganda to participate in the African Union Extraordinary Summit on the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP).
The summit, held at Speke Resort Munyonyo, began on January 9, 2025, and is scheduled to conclude on January 11, 2025.
Upon his arrival at Entebbe International Airport, President Selassie was warmly received by a delegation of high-ranking Ugandan officials, including the Minister for Defence and Veteran Affairs, Hon. Jacob Oboth Oboth; Uganda’s Permanent Representative to the AU and IGAD, Ambassador Rebecca Amuge Otengo; Uganda’s Ambassador to Sudan, H.E. Dr. Yahya Ssemuddu; the UPDF Air Force Chief of Staff, Brig. Gen. David Gonyi; Uganda Police Chief Political Commissar, AIGP Ubaldo Bamunoba; and the Assistant Commissioner General of Prisons, Mr. Robert Munanura.
The Ethiopian delegation in Uganda, led by Ambassador Etsegenet Yimenu, was also present to welcome President Selassie.
The AU Extraordinary Summit on Agriculture aims to drive progress under the CAADP initiative, fostering sustainable agricultural growth and ensuring food security across the continent.
