An impeccable security source has revealed that Dr Kizza Besigye was found in a hotel negotiating for arms with a foreign country.
The opposition figure reportedly went missing from the Kenyan capital last Saturday.
His wife, Dr Winnie Byanyima, said Besigye had traveled to Kenya to attend the launch of the book titled “Against the Tide” by Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua on November 17, 2024, at Serena Hotel in Nairobi.
In her X message demanding his release, Dr Byanyima said her husband was detained in a military jail in Kampala.
Now, a senior security source has told SoftPower News that he will be arraigned in the General Court Martial today.
“He is in our custody. He will be charged with undermining national security with foreigners,” said the impeccable source.
This is not the first time Besigye is facing charges related to undermining national security.
In 2005, Besigye was charged at a court martial with terrorism and illegal possession of firearms. He was charged with similar offenses in 2009 and 2020. The charges would later be dropped or dismissed.
