Kaynela Farms, a pioneering agro-tourism destination in Kayunga District, Uganda, is set to host the second edition of the Kaynela Food Carnival from December 6-8.
This three-day culinary extravaganza promises to showcase the best of Uganda’s organic farming practices, local recipes, and interactive dining experiences.
The festival will feature a farm-to-table approach, with the majority of the ingredients sourced directly from Kaynela Farms.
The farm’s Operations Manager, Samuel Mubeezi, emphasized the importance of promoting healthy meals through organic food production.
“We want to shift the focus from unhealthy junk food to nutritious options. At Kaynela, we’ll demonstrate traditional meals, fresh fruits, and drinks without preservatives,” he said.
The festival will bring together a number of local chefs from Uganda and East Africa, who will prepare a wide range of dishes using fresh, seasonal produce from the farm. Visitors will savor traditional delicious meals.
Headlining Performance.
Chantal Akandinda, The Head of Media at Kaynela Farms, said there will be an entertainment session that will feature the legendary Afrigo Band as its headlining act.
With a career spanning over four decades, Afrigo Band is one of East Africa’s most iconic and influential music groups. Known for their unique blend of Afrobeat, jazz, and traditional Ugandan music.
She promised an electrifying performance that will keep festival-goers entertained throughout the night.
“Their soulful melodies, catchy rhythms, and energetic stage presence will undoubtedly make this year’s festival a memorable experience,” she noted.
There will be, Farm tours to showcase organic farming practices and techniques, Cooking masterclasses by local chefs, Outdoor grills and live music performances, Panel discussions on organic farming and healthy food systems, Farm-fresh produce market, Locally-brewed banana juice and bonfires, Bird-watching experiences (over 50 bird species recorded on the farm), Quad biking and horse riding.
Tickets for the three days will go for 550k, 1M, and 2M, inclusive of accommodation, meals, and activities.
The Farm offers an immersive agro-tourism experience, allowing visitors to explore the farm’s sustainable practices, interact with animals, and learn about traditional farming methods.
