Police has arrested three people suspected to belong to a criminal gang, who recently confessed to killing people.
The three who are being detained at Nsangi police station are Kasozi Shafiq, Twaha Tim and Paddy Sserunjogi. They were arrested on Monday from a hotel called Rose Garden in Nsangi, according to Police.
Police say they are investigating allegations that the three openly owned up to committing murder in recordings that were later circulated on social media.
“Their daunting claims of killing people can not be swept under the carpet. It will be investigated to its logical conclusion,” Police Spokesperson, SSP Emilian Kayima said in a statement released on Monday.
In the same clip, the suspected criminals alleged that they work with the help of police, a claim that police refutes.
“On the allegation of working with police officers to commit crime, we want to establish who in the police they work with,” Kayima said.
Police said that the arrest of the three will aid investigations into the said crimes.
The Police has often been criticized for failure to apprehend criminals that claim to wield so much power and police protection. Last year, a group of goons known as Boda Boda 2010 beat up school going pupils along the Kampala-Entebbe express way whom they suspected to be opposed to the proposed amendments to remove the Presidential age limits.
The pupils were dressed in red colored head gear at a time when opposition politicians were using the red color to protest the contentious amendment.
