Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has distanced itself from the ongoing consultations by the former party President, Gen. Mugisha Muntu noting that the meetings have not been sanctioned by any party organ.
The party Presidential Press Secretary and Women League Spokesperson, Sarah Eperu told the media on Monday that Gen. Muntu’s consultations which commenced today have not been discussed by and party organ.
“Gen. Muntu has not written to the party, the only letter we saw was addressed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and he copied us in but as far as the party is concerned, we haven’t received any formal communication from him,” Eperu said.
Asked to comment on the letter written by the party Secretary General warning all district leaders against hosting an meeting that is not sanctioned by the party, the Kawempe South MP, Mubaraka Munyagwa who addressed the party weekly press conference noted that the aim of the letter was to call for harmony of all activities.
The letter addressed to the district leaders noted that, “anyone one from the headquarters or anywhere who intends to carry out an activity in your district in the name of the party should demonstrate that the activity was discussed and passed by the FDC National Executive Committee.”

Munyagwa said that, “The idea is to harmonize programs, our brother Byamugisha has always been moving across the country, our party is not a brief case party like other parties; the idea behind the letter is that let each and every member, the youth, women, General Muntu bring their programs to harmonize with that of the party President.
In the letter, Mafabi noted that the party President has already notified members that he will be carrying out a number of activities during his first 100 days urging members to offer him all the relevant support.
