The first half saw Uganda create several chances through Rogers Mato, Denis Omedi, and Jude Ssemugabi, but South Sudan’s goalkeeper kept them at bay.

The breakthrough came in the second-half when Mugabi capitalized on a rebound from close range. Substitute Allan Okello provided the spark, delivering a short corner kick that led to the goal.

South Sudan pushed for an equalizer in the closing stages, but defender Halidi Lwaliwa’s goal-line clearance in stoppage time secured Uganda’s win.

Uganda will face South Sudan on Tuesday at Juba Stadium.
