The General Court Martial in Makindye has charged and remanded seven people including a retired UPDF soldier for attacking Muto Hardware in Masaka town and killing two people.
On 1, June 2018, unknown assailants attacked Muto Hardware in Masaka town and killed a security guard and another person before robbing huge sums of money.
Seven people including Rtd Cpl Paul Kiwanuka, Derrick Jumba, John Bosco Waliggo, Kizza Bukenya Matiya, Stephen Kayemba, Julius Tweheyo, and Gerevazio Kankaka were charged with murder and aggravated robbery.
Prosecution alleges that the group killed two people before grabbing the SMG rifle that the security guard had and robbed the hardware of Shs 435 million. The accused denied the charges.
Prosecution led by Maj Raphael Mugisha asked for more time to be able to accomplish investigations before the army court chairman Lt Gen Andrew Gutti adjourned the matter to 25th September 2018.
