City Hall court grade one magistrate, Beatrice Khainza has remanded six people to Luzira prison for preserving fish and meat with dangerous chemicals.
The meat vendors who have been remanded are Erias Kafumba, Isa Ssenoga, Isma Mutebi, Umar Kalyango, Baker Mulondo and Ibrahim Ssekitto.
They pleaded guilty before the magistrate before being sent to Luzira.
These were arrested from areas of Nakasero Market, Nankulabye and Ntinda Market during an operation conducted by the KCCA health and law enforcement officers.
During this operation, it was established that the accused spray harmful chemicals on both the fish and meat they sell to the public in order to deter away and kill flies.
The white chemical concoctions were kept in plastic bottles. Others were found to be operating from places without the required hygiene standards.
The six persons will be brought back to court on Wednesday next week to receive their sentences.
