Police is holding nearly forty men found holding a gay wedding in Nansana Municipality in Wakiso district.
The arrest happened on Monday afternoon when police was informed that a group of men suspected to be gay were conducting a wedding in 780 Zone, Ochen ward in Nansana Municipality.
According to ASP Charles Twiine, the CID police spokesperson, their officers would immediately proceed to the scene where 38 adult males and 6 females were found conducting the ceremony.
“All the men had make up and some were dressed as female in dresses and wigs,” Twiine told this news website.
He says at the same functions gifts including suitcases, a tv, assorted gifts like sugar, salt, pineapples and many other gifts normally given at traditional functions were recovered.
He also notes that both used and unused condoms were recovered at the same function.
“The suspects were not observing any Covid 19 guidelines, as non had masks on and were crowded together,” ASP Twiine says.
He says all the suspects are currently being interrogated and will subsequently be charged with doing a negligent act likely to spread an infectious disease since they did not follow any SOPs.
