25 Districts Endorse Age Limit Amendment – NRM

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has said 25 districts endorsed the age limit amendment Bill at the start of the party’s countrywide party consultations.

The NRM on Monday began countrywide consultative meetings to garner support for amendment of article 102(b) tabled by Igara West MP Raphael Magezi to remove the upper and lower age limits for presidential candidates.

Members of the party’s Central Executive Committee were deployed in all regions to explain to party members the merits of the amendment bill.

A statement by the NRM Communications Officer, Rogers Mulindwa says 25 districts supported the amendment on the first day of consultations.

“Day one of the ongoing NRM countrywide meetings ended successfully on Monday with 25 District Party leaderships consenting to the position of the Central Executive Committee (CEC) and the National Executive Council (NEC) to have Article 102(b) of the Constitution amended. No single district differed from the common position. The meetings resume on Tuesday,” the release issued on Monday evening read in part.

The NRM Secretariat issued the following program:

Buvuma

Buganda Region NRM Chairperson, Al-Hajji Abdul Nadduli sails to Buvuma islands on Tuesday morning for his first meeting scheduled for mid day.

On return from the island, Naduli will travel to Buikwe on Wednesday morning and Mukono district in the afternoon. Kayunga district meeting is on Thursday.

Lango

Northern Region Chairperson Hon. Sam Engola spent the whole of Monday meeting the NRM chairpersons of the eight districts that make up Lango Sub Region in a strategy meant to ease his work on Tuesday the 7th of November. His team will cover the eight districts of Lira, Apac, Aleptong, Otuke, Oyam, Kole, Amoltar and Dokolo on Tuesday.

Busoga

Rt. Hon. Deputy Premier Al-Hajji Ali Kirunda Kivejinja to hold a meeting in Namutumba at 10:00am, Iganga at 2:00pm and conclude with Mayuge at 4:00pm. His team held meetings in Kaliro and Buyende on Monday.

Nwoya

Acting Secretary General Richard Todwong will hold meetings in Lamwo and Amuru on Tuesday and conclude on Wednesday in Kitgum, Agago, Omoro and Pader districts.

Karamoja

Karamoja Regional Chairperson,Simon Peter Aleper will meetings on Tuesday in Moroto, Amudat, Nakapiripit and Napak districts. EALA MP Hon George Odongo will be in Abim, Kotido and Kaabong.

Eastern Region

Captain Mike Mukula resumes meetings on Wednesday in Busia, Tororo and Butaleja.

Bunyoro

Hon. Milton Muwuma will hold meetings in Hoima and Bulisa districts on Tuesday and conclude with Masindi and Kiryandongo.

Deputy Treasurer Omona

Deputy National Treasurer Dr. Kenneth Omona moves to Soroti today morning after a meeting in Kaberamaido on Monday. He will hold one meeting today.

His team will however remain behind to do Serere as action resumes Wednesday in Katakwi and Amuria.
