Hoima, Uganda – Construction of Uganda’s second national stadium in Hoima City is progressing at a remarkable pace under the supervision of Turkish construction giants SUMMA.
During a recent site inspection, National Council of Sports (NCS) officials, including Assistant General Secretary Administration, Joseph Oluga and Engineering Officer, Nicholas Zirimenya, along with consultants from the Ministry of Works and Transport, were impressed by the rapid progress.
SUMMA has been tasked with completing the $129 million multi-sports complex within 18 months, but the current construction pace suggests they may deliver ahead of schedule.
The project encompasses a 20,000-seater main stadium, a 2,000-seater indoor multi-sports arena, a training pitch, a semi-Olympic-sized swimming pool, a 1,000-plus vehicle parking lot, and outdoor courts for basketball, netball, and volleyball.
These facilities are already taking shape, indicating a strong commitment to timely completion.
Hoima City has been earmarked as one of the host cities for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, which is set to be co-hosted by Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania.
The construction of this state-of-the-art stadium is a significant step towards enhancing Uganda’s sports infrastructure and ensuring a successful hosting of the prestigious continental football tournament.
