Police’s Professional Standards Unit (PSU) has arrested 2 police officers attached to Interpol in Kampala for conning a Namibian based Ugandan surgeon of Shs 300 million.

According to the PSU spokesperson Vincent Ssekate, the two officers Edison Bukholi and Chris Musana connived with the relatives of the surgeon to fleece him of the money.

“He (surgeon) arrived at the Mutukula border with 3 vehicles including 2 Toyota land cruiser prados and a Fortuner occupied by the doctor’s relatives,” Ssekate told journalists on Friday.

“He was arrested at the border before being driven to Interpol in Kampala and threatened”

Ssekate said the two police officers accused the surgeon of working with Dr. Aggrey Kiyingi to engage in subversive activities and money laundering.

“They threatened to put him behind bars and in order to save himself, he gave them the money,” Ssekate said.

The PSU publicist added that investigations have found out that the doctor’s relatives who have since run into hiding connived with the 2 police officers to con him of the money amounting to US $82,000.
