Over 150 students of Nakanyonyi Senior Secondary School in Mukono district have been hospitalized over alleged food poisoning.

The students complained of severe stomach complications hours after having their meals.

Luke Owoyesigyire the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Spokesperson said, “After having break tea today, the signs worsened. They have exhibited consistent stomach pains.”

The victims have been rushed to nearby hospitals in the area for urgent medical attention.

“No deaths confirmed despite social media claims. Some students already discharged. We shall provide updates in due course,” Owoyesigyire said.

Owoyesigyire revealed that samples were picked from the victims and taken to the Government Analytical Laboratory in Wandegeya for examination.

He noted that Investigations are underway to determine the cause.
