The Ministry of Health has confirmed 15 cases of Ebola Virus Death in the Greater Kampala region in the last 48 hours.
The minister of Health, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero, said on Sunday October 23, 2022, nine (9) individuals were confirmed positive for Ebola in Greater Kampala region.
According to Dr Aceng, the nine cases are contacts of the fatal case that came from Kassanda district and passed on in Mulago Hospital.
“Seven (7) family members are from Masanafu and 1 health worker who managed him in a private clinic together with his wife from Seguku,” she noted.
“Fellow Ugandans, let’s be vigilant. Report yourself if you have had contact or know of a person who has had contact. Let’s cooperate to end Ebola,” she tweeted on Monday.
Earlier, five contacts to the Kassanda case, who were quarantined in Mulago Isolation facility, tested positive for Ebola.
They were transferred to the Entebbe Ebola Treatment Unit.
According to the Ministry of Health, cumulative confirmed cases are now 84 as of October 24, 2022.
There are 28 confirmed cumulative deaths and 26 recoveries.
Contacts listed for follow-up are 1,746 people while 19 are active cases on admission.
